What is Companies Registry Online Search Facility Service about?
It is a facility which allows the public to perform electronic file based searches on companies incorporated, registered or continued under the Companies Act 1995 and business names registered under the Business Names Act Ch. 82:85. Documents lodged at the Companies Registry are scanned as electronic images and made available in an electronic format.
What are the benefits of having a subscription account?
With proper authorization, one can access and download all of the documents on the Companies’ Registry’s computer system. One may now be able to:

How can I perform searches?
In order to perform searches online, you need a subscription account. A subscription account can be obtained at the Companies Registry upon request of the service and payment of the stipulated fee. There is a minimum subscription fee of $2000.00 TTD. This is similar in function to a debit account; a subscription account accepts deposits at the time of payment. This is your account; your money and whatever balances are left belong to you.
How much does a search cost?
It costs 20.00 TTD to download/access a company or business name file. This amount is deducted from your subscription account.
What forms of payment does the Registry accept?
The Registry accepts:

Cash.

Certified Cheque/Manager’s Cheque.

International Money Order written to "Registrar General" accompanied with a note that it is payment for the Companies Online Search Facility Service. Include your email and contact number in order to receive a scanned copy of the receipt.

Where do I pay?
Payments can only be made at the Companies Registry. Registrar General’s Department, 72-74 South Quay, Port of Spain, Trinidad and Tobago.
How do I access the service?
The pay-per-download service can be accessed by visiting the following website addresses.
Enter your User ID and password in the box to the right corner of the screen. You can now view and access documents.
Where is my username and password?
Your username and password are on the receipt that you will receive from the Companies Registry. Ensure that the activity type on the receipt reads – “Company/Business Web Searches”
How long is the document available for download?
The document is available for 24 hours.
Can I print copies of the document?
Yes. After downloading and opening the document you can print any amount of copies of the document at your convenience.
How do I know what is the balance on my account?
Visit the website http://www.legalaffairs.gov.tt, log into the companies registry online search facility, your balance will be displayed under the section labelled “Account Holders”.
When will my account expire?
Your account expires when you have exhausted the available fund deposited. If you have $2000.00 TTD worth of searches on your account, your account will therefore expire only when you have searched 100 files. i.e. $20 x 100 = $2000.00.
